Civil Litigation Attorney – Full-Time
Gates Shields Ferguson Swall Hammond, P.A., a respected civil litigation
firm with a longstanding presence in the Kansas City metro area, is seeking
a full-time
Civil Litigation Attorney to join our Overland Park office.
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented attorney with 1–3 years of litigation experience, ideally including both plaintiff and defense work. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who demonstrates strong analytical, writing, and advocacy skills and is eager to grow professionally through meaningful mentorship and hands-on litigation experience.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and support civil litigation cases from inception through resolution
- Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and discovery
- Represent clients in court appearances, depositions, and negotiations
- Collaborate with senior attorneys and support staff
- Maintain excellent client relationships
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in Kansas and Missouri.
- 1–3 years of relevant civil litigation experience
- Strong communication, research, and writing skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
